A head injury, or traumatic
brain injury, is any type of trauma to the
head that results in an injury to the skull,
brain, or scalp. The head injury can range
from mile to severe brain injuries and can
be classified as a closed head injury or
open head injury. An open head injury is
when the object that has made contact with
the head breaks through the skull and enters
the brain. Two million people experience
some type of a head injury every year due
mainly to accidents. Many head injuries
could be prevented but because of faulty
products or negligence personal injuries
result. Head injuries can leave a person
with life altering symptoms, if not death,
including personality changes, emotional
problems, speech complications, cognitive
deficits, loss of sensations, seizures,
paralysis, and coma.
